Sustainability
At GR1T, sustainability is built into every step - from design and sourcing to end-of-life. We follow strict EU standards to ensure recycling, transparency, circularity, and repairability—building motorcycles that respect riders and the planet.
All GR1T Motorcycles are designed with sustainability and circular manufacturing in mind. This covers our plant operations as well as our motorcycle product design and sourcing, as well as all other operations.
Specifically:
ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
We are working to achieve ISO 14001 certification, which is for environmental management systems. This ensures that all activities we undertake that may have a harmful effect on the environment have a corresponding technological and management plan to address them. Once certified, we will be reporting on our EMS progress every year, and as customers you are invited to comment upon this.
Battery Sustainability
Our batteries are recycled and in many cases, factory-reconditioned for re-use. If they are not re-used, they are recycled based on EU Regulation 2023/1542 which entered into force on 17 August 2023. This specifies a full life cycle approach to battery use, from sourcing of raw materials to design and manufacturing to use, reuse and collection and then recycling and disposal. For this reason, we ask you to report any battery defects or issues and only purchase GR1T-approved batteries
Digital Battery Passport
From the start of our manufacturing process, we are introducing the Digital Battery Passport required by EU Regulation 2023/1542. This will include the identification of the battery model and manufacturer; information on the carbon footprint, composition and recycled content; and data on capacity and state of health. Instructions for disassembly, recycling and safe handling will also be provided.
Digital Dashboard; Chargers and Cabling Systems
The digital dashboard as well as all chargers and electric cabling systems in the GR1T motorcycle line are recoverable and recyclable. You can either recycle these using a national recycling scheme in your country of residence. Alternatively, you can return these to GR1T distributors and our own sales network for recycling. Recycling and re-purposing takes place at our factory and are in line with the EU Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (2012/19/EU) (the WEEE Directive).
Digital Product Passport
Our GR1T G1S and G1X platforms are also ready to adapt the Digital Product Passport when this becomes legally mandated.
Right to Repair Directive
In line with our commitment to customizing and upgrading all GR1T Motorcycles, we comply with the Right to Repair Directive. This means that you can re-order every single spare part and component you need to repair your GR1T Motorcycle from our website, or find them (subject to availability) at our stores or distributors.
End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV)
To highlight our total commitment to recycling and circularity, you can contact us to arrange our repurchase of you GR1T Motorcycle. Why? Because from our side, we can re-use a certain amount of components and materials. And because as a committed European manufacturer, we comply with all regulation in this space because respecting the environment is part of our DNA.
Chemicals and Materials
All chemicals and chemical-containing, plastic, rubber and other items, including paints and coatings, comply with the EU REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 as well as the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS2). We also comply with the Persistent Organic Chemicals (POP) Regulation. Our suppliers are required to provide all compliance certificates with these laws.
Packaging
We ensure all components used in our packaging and supply chain line, from corrugated board to plastic coverings, are recoverable and recyclable.
Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) (2024/1760)
We comply with the CSDDD Directive, which also forms a core part of our ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certification processes.
Factory Energy Efficiency
Our factory is gradually being expanded and renovated. Part of this process involves complying with energy efficiency standards. We will be implementing ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems as well as the requirements of the Energy Efficiency Directive (2023/1791) as part of our expansion process between 2027 and 2030.
Greenhouse Gas Emissions
We are developing a measurement system for GHG and will be providing detailed reporting on this from mid-2027 onwards.
