GR1T Motorcycles Appoints Former Ducati MotoGP Engineer Marco Savelli as Chief Technology Officer

1 June, 2026

GR1T Motorcycles is pleased to announce the appointment of Marco Savelli as Chief Technology Officer, further strengthening the company’s leadership team as it advances the development of its next generation electric motorcycles.

Marco brings more than two decades of experience in high-performance engineering, vehicle development, and motorsport. His career includes six years at Ducati Corse, where he worked on the MotoGP programme as a chassis and engine development engineer, contributing to one of the most competitive environments in motorcycle racing.

Following his time at Ducati, Marco moved into Formula 1, holding senior engineering positions with Scuderia Toro Rosso and the Lotus F1 Team. Working at the highest levels of international motorsport provided him with extensive expertise in vehicle dynamics, performance engineering, product development, and industrial processes.

More recently, Marco co-founded Wheelab, an engineering company based in Italy’s renowned Motor Valley. Wheelab has served as GR1T’s engineering and development partner throughout the creation of the G1 platform, playing a central role in the design, engineering, and validation of the company’s upcoming electric motorcycle range.

As a result, Marco has been involved in the G1 project since its earliest stages and possesses a unique understanding of the platform, its technology, and its future development potential.

In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Marco will lead the continued development and industrialisation of the G1 platform while helping shape the technical vision for future GR1T products. He will work closely with the engineering team in Italy’s Motor Valley to ensure that GR1T continues to deliver motorcycles that combine performance, quality, innovation, and distinctive design.

The appointment comes at an important stage in the company’s growth. Following the successful public debut of the G1 platform, GR1T is focused on further product development, validation, homologation, and preparations for future production.

“Marco’s appointment is a natural progression of a relationship that has been instrumental to the development of the G1 platform,” said Omar Abukhlal, CEO of GR1T Motorcycles. “His experience in MotoGP, Formula 1, and vehicle development is exceptional, but equally important is his deep understanding of our products, our vision, and our commitment to building world-class electric motorcycles.”

For Marco, the move also represents the continuation of a journey that began when Wheelab first partnered with GR1T to develop the G1 platform.

“Having worked on the project from the beginning, I am excited to take on this new role and help guide GR1T through the next phase of its development,” said Savelli. “We have built a strong foundation and I look forward to working with the team to bring innovative, beautifully designed electric motorcycles to riders across Europe.”

The G1 platform forms the foundation of GR1T’s upcoming electric motorcycle range, including the G1S Street and G1X models. Designed and engineered in Italy’s Motor Valley, these electric motorcycles combine lightweight construction, advanced connectivity, practical urban mobility and distinctive design to create a new generation of premium two-wheeled transportation.

With Marco Savelli joining the senior leadership team, GR1T continues to strengthen its capabilities as it pursues its mission of creating high-quality electric motorcycles designed and engineered in Italy’s Motor Valley.

The entire GR1T team welcomes Marco and looks forward to the next chapter of the company’s journey.
